About Me

Hello! I’m Lila Rose, a floral designer & freelancer based in Costa Mesa, CA.

I joined the floristry industry because of my experience living abroad. In the past few years, I have learned that flowers are deeply intertwined with culture and community. While living in Korea, I watched a fast-paced country slow down to appreciate the cherry blossom season. During that period, everyone is outside and connecting with others.

After moving to Seattle, Pikes Place Market is where I found connection. The everyday conversations I would have as I purchased my weekly flowers helped me feel less alone in a new place. I also learned to love locally grown flowers! 

When I moved again to Japan, I was introduced to the concept of 間 (Ma), which teaches that there is beauty in negative space. Ikebana sparked my curiosity, and kick-started my interest in floristry as a whole. I attended a private Ikebana workshop, and attended an ikebana exhibit with hundreds of arrangements. I traveled to the temple where ikebana originated, and purchased my first floral text book.

Since then, I've trained at McQueens Flower School London and worked in a floral studio processing flowers, fulfilling orders, photographing workshops, and assisting with weddings and installations. I'm excited to keep learning, meet new people, and continue to connect through flowers.
